Our bone marrow capsules contain freeze-dried, finely ground beef bone with its marrow from pasture-raised cattle in Estonia, plus organic liver. Six capsules make up a daily serving of 3,000 mg of organ powder, so a tub of 240 capsules lasts 40 days. Apart from bone, marrow, liver and the beef gelatine capsule shell, the product contains nothing else.
Calcium and phosphorus for bones and teeth
Calcium is needed for the maintenance of normal bones and for the maintenance of normal teeth. Phosphorus contributes to the maintenance of normal bones and of normal teeth. Calcium also contributes to normal muscle function and to normal energy-yielding metabolism. Phosphorus likewise contributes to normal energy-yielding metabolism.
Natural calcium from beef bone and marrow
In bone, calcium does not occur as an isolated substance but bound together with phosphorus in hydroxyapatite, the bone mineral. This is exactly the material in our capsules, because the bone is processed too. That sets them apart from conventional calcium capsules, which usually contain calcium carbonate or calcium citrate.
Bone marrow capsules with organic liver
The organic liver adds vitamin A, vitamin B12 and copper. Vitamin A is present as retinol and contributes to the normal function of the immune system, to the maintenance of normal skin and to the maintenance of normal vision. Vitamin B12 contributes to normal energy-yielding metabolism, to the normal functioning of the nervous system and to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue. Copper contributes to the maintenance of normal connective tissues and to the normal function of the immune system.
Bone marrow in traditional cooking
In Britain, roasted bone marrow on toast has become a classic of nose-to-tail cooking, in Italy the marrow is scooped out of the shank in osso buco, and in France marrow bones belong in a proper pot-au-feu. For generations, the bones themselves were simmered into stock. Our capsules follow this nose-to-tail principle and use bone and marrow together.
Why freeze-dried?
Freeze-drying removes the water from bone, marrow and liver at very low temperatures, without heating them. Heat-sensitive components are largely preserved. What remains is a concentrated powder that keeps well, is neutral in taste and can be dosed precisely.
Quality and origin
The bone and marrow come from pasture-raised cattle in Estonia, the liver from EU organic pasture farming. Each capsule contains only the freeze-dried organs, with no fillers, anti-caking agents or colourings. We also have the product tested in the laboratory for nutrients and purity (see “Lab analyses & certificates”).
Who is a bone marrow supplement for?
Bone marrow capsules are for anyone who follows the nose-to-tail principle and wants to include bone and marrow in their diet without roasting marrow bones or making stock. They suit everyone who prefers to get natural calcium from a food rather than from an isolated preparation. As the capsule shell is made of beef gelatine, the product is not vegetarian.
